General Grants

October 2008

Blue Ridge Book and Author Showcase:
$2,000 to support the upcoming book festival in Henderson County.

Henderson County Education Foundation:
$5,100 to purchase interactive white boards - SMART boards - for classrooms at Balfour Education Center.

Upper Hickory Nut Gorge Community Club:
$8,500 to develop a recreational area for the citizens of the Gerton area.

$2,500 Summer String Camp

Henderson County Young Leaders Program, Inc.:
$2,000 August 2010 Camp Session

Buncombe County School Foundation:
$2,784 Crisis Closet/Closing the Gap for families in crisis
Asheville Greenworks-Quality Forward:
$10,000 Tree to Success (Lee Walker Heights/Klondyke)
Jewish Community Center of Asheville Inc.:
$15,000 Case Management and Mental Health Counseling Services
$5,000 Financial Outreach Program
Hendersonville Junior Woman's Club:
$5,000 Children's Clothing Closet
Mountain BizWorks:
$25,000 Foundation for Rural and Underserved Entrepreneurs

The Center for Dialogue:

Fletcher Community Grants

November 2008

Fletcher Community Chorus:
$4,000 to be used towards the 2009 Choral Program, $2,000 of which is a challenge grant.

Fletcher Arts and Heritage Association:
$5,000 to help construct a history of rural African American in the Fletcher area.

League of Women Voters of Henderson County:
$500 to help with the cost of printing the publication "Our Local Government"
